The Green Ranking Champion honours pioneers in sustainability

September 08, 20

The F.A.Z. Institute recognises companies with the "Green Ranking Champion" award, which are the top performers in the 60 most important industry-wide sustainability rankings and awards. These rankings measure the sustainability performance and reputation of companies and have increased significantly since the first rankings were published in the late 1990s. The F.A.Z. Institute and the ranking management specialist R.A.T.E. GmbH have been investigating hundreds of rankings annually and publishing the results in the Global R.A.T.E. Index. They have identified the most important rankings in the ten largest economies: Brazil, China, Germany, France, Great Britain, India, Italy, Canada, Japan, and the United States. Additionally, they have included global competitions such as the "World's Most Admired Companies".

The F.A.Z. Institute, in partnership with R.A.T.E GmbH, has released the Green Ranking Champion 2020, a ranking of the top-performing companies in sustainability. The results are based on aggregating the most important sustainability rankings, an indicator that combines sustainability reputation and performance. Based on the Green Ranking Champion 2020, Microsoft is the top-ranked company, followed by Canon and Intel. Microsoft has been conducting its business climate-neutral since 2012 by offsetting emissions through various measures. They also have a recycling rate of over 80% for packaging.
